HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF

Loving myself has been a thing I struggled with for a while, I felt that I wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t that enough. You shouldn’t have to deal with that, it’s not worth the stress.

I know everyone has insecurities, I have them too. Even the best people do, no one is perfect. We are all flawed. You have to own the flaw. Own your insecurities. So what if you have a flat nose and everyone else’s own is pointed? Deal with it, love yourself irregardless of the physical flaw that you think you may have.

And now you may be saying, well it’s not that easy, I know but when you accept yourself it becomes better. You don’t have to seek validation from anyone or anything. Be comfortable in your own skin.

Sometimes it may not be easy especially when people laugh at your flaws. Believe me I’ve been there. I have a big insecurity when it comes to my hair and get laughed at for it so you’d hardly see me in my natural hair because I know someone is bound to say something about it and it would hurt my feelings. But guess who doesn’t care anymore? That’s right, me! Now I can go wherever I want in my natural hair, it still isn’t the best but it’s mine and I’m owning it, what anyone has to say doesn’t really matter to me. You should have that attitude too. So what if they make fun of your gap tooth? If you think it’s pretty nice it wouldn’t reasonate with you if someone tells you otherwise.

It all goes down to how you see yourself. How you view yourself matters a lot. If you see yourself as ugly, not worthy and all of that don’t be surprised when someone tells you that because it’s how you see yourself that others will see you. Change the way you see yourself.

Love yourself, everything about you, even that scar on your face. Love the good and the bad and if you don’t like the bad, work on making it good.

I know the journey isn’t an easy one and sometimes you’d still feel a bit out of place. Well, let that be only sometimes not everytime.

Love yourself enough to accept yourself and who you are because nobody will love you if you don’t love yourself likewise, you can’t give what you don’t have. So you see how important loving yourself is right?

LOVE YOURSELF: to love yourself you actually have to love yourself, everything that makes you up. Your physical appearance, your attitude and character. Love every bit of yourself.

ACCEPT YOURSELF: self acceptance is really needed here. Accept yourself because if you don’t accept yourself how do you expect someone else to accept you? Accept the fact that you aren’t someone else, why try to be like someone else when you can be the first rate version of yourself?

OWN YOUR FLAWS: everyone has flaws. Own it( I just remembered Stormzy’s song here). Accept your flaws, don’t hide them, don’t run from them just own it.

FORGIVE YOURSELF: Don’t hold on to the past or anything that will drag you down. Forgive yourself from past mistakes and move on. Learn from your mistakes don’t hold on to them. Let go of every guilt and resentment you feel towards yourself. This also applies to others forgive everyone, believe me you are doing yourself a big favour. There is just this inner peace you get from being free from anger and resentment towards yourself or others.

KNOW YOURSELF: Spend quality time with yourself. Get to know your likes and dislikes. Enjoy being in your presence.

ENJOY YOURSELF: This is the best part. Enjoy yourself, enjoy your presence. Do things you love doing. Take yourself out, take that trip, buy that dress. Just do things that will make you happy. Have fun, enjoy the moments you spend with yourself and loved ones. Your happiness is what matters.

On this day choose to love yourself, put yourself first and accept yourself because in the end you are all you’ve got.

In what areas have you had problems with in loving yourself? How has your self love journey been?

Great post & break down of the self-love concept. I learnt from an early age the gap in my teeth wasn’t the ‘norm’ but because I loved it & fully embraced it over the years, you instead live loving your natural differences rather than trying to hide them (i used to hardly ever show my teeth on photographs, now I am all gap and gums hahaha). Great post, thabks for sharing the self-love lessons you have learnt along the way… Helen 🙂
